You sit down on the sofa, turn on the television, turn to the news and what do you hear?  Medical costs rising again, health care prices through the roof, people barely able to afford health insurance.  Well, I have great new for you.  What if I told you that you could get quality health insurance at the fraction of the cost that most people pay.  It isn’t magic, it is a special type of health insurance call a high deductible health insurance plan.

The high deductible health insurance plan is the cheapest health insurance out in the market today.  Period.  I dare you to go out and show me cheaper health insurance that a high deductible health insurance plan.  If you want to have cheap and quality health insurance than get yourself a high deductible health insurance plan.

What is a high deductible health insurance plan and why is the cheapest health insurance out there?  

Well, a high deductible health insurance plan is a type of health insurance that places many of the small medical costs to the consumer.  

Basically, doctor’s visits, medications, small treatments all come out of your pocket.  

The greener side to this story is that you have cheaper premiums. This means that since the health insurance companies are not paying for your small medical expenses you pay less in premiums.  This is what makes high deductible health insurance plans the cheapest health insurance.

Since, a high deductible health insurance plan is insurance, it does cover any major illness or injury that comes along.  

Basically, this type of insurance is like your car insurance you pay for the small dings and scratches but any major accidents the car insurance company will pay for.  

The same applies to the high deductible health insurance plan except with your body.  It may sound scary to relate your body to your car, but really take a look at how much you spend on health insurance premium this month.  Then take a look at how many times you visited the doctor in the last three months.  In most cases, you would be better off just paying the doctor outright than paying the premiums every month.  

Remember the cheapest health insurance does not mean the worst.

However, there are drawbacks to this cheap health insurance.  You have to be comfortable paying a high deductible when a catastrophe does happen.  

In addition to that train of thought, you have to be pretty sure that you will spend too much on health care in a given year.
